AArtistic Statements

I believe in the phrase of Dostoevsky: "Beauty will save the world." Through my art, I communicate ideas about beauty on many levels, including mythological, philosophical, and emotional. I also believe that we seek personal authenticity and grace in life, and we surround ourselves with objects that share these qualities.
Most of my works are inspired by the cultural traditions of one historical era or another. At times, it seems that I create my sculptures living and traveling freely through the history in search for links between the past and the present and the laws of universal harmony. In any of the cultures and times they represent, the images seem to emulate our genetic memory of mankind's cultural experience. The theme of time which is pivotal in my work, symbolizes the perennial vitality of the world as manifested in the continuity of cultures rather than its transience.

My recent work displays my obvious desire to retire from the bustle of every day routine to eternal values. The faster the flow of time,e more we tend to forget that, in fact, little is changing under the Sun: thanally aspires to elevate himself from the mundane to spiritual heights, and this is the only road to immortality in art.

My study of philosophy, literature, poetry, and religion has informed my painting and drawings, particularly when these ways of understanding the world preserve and enhance what is most human about us. I use metaphors to symbolize, explore, and express the power of universal creative forces that both ennoble us and reveal a deeper human existence often lost to us. I believe that, although we are part of a universal creation that provides us with spiritual qualities, these qualities often disappear beneath the majestic buildings and powerful machines we have made for ourselves.
Fortunately, we can find our humanity because disappearance flows into discovery and creativity leads to revelation. These ideas are found in the images and shapes of my work, often appearing from the chaos of the lines, much like the work of ancient Chinese artists who said the hand follows the brush. The fluidity of my art connects the completion of a particular work with the beginning of another providing the freedom necessary to continue to search for the humanity we have hidden from ourselves.
